- "Salary Cap Style" - you manage your team just like a big league GM on a level playing field. We all play by the same rules. Select your team using a salary cap of $450 for a 12 player/team roster (4 Guards, 4 Forwards, 2 Centers, and 2 Teams) plus a LUCKY 13th player each week.
- UPDATED RULE. A LUCKY 13th flex roster spot will be filled each week by any player you would like to use. Your LUCKY 13th flex player will receive SINGLE points for the week. The player will not count against your salary cap and you will not be charged for a trade to fill the 13th spot on your roster. A player may fill your LUCKY 13th roster spot only once during the season (once you use a player, they are no longer eligible to earn points in the LUCKY 13th spot on your roster). - League Champions. Entries are placed in leagues of 40. A maximum of 3 teams per person and 10 teams per family may be entered into the same league. A maximum of 10 teams per unique promo code (if applicable) are allowed in the same league. Sports Buff reserves the right to modify league formation or disqualify teams, if these rules are not followed.

Sports Buff ("Club") is a private club owned and operated by Sports Buff LLC ("SB"), P.O. Box 896, Kenosha, WI 53141-0896. Sports Buff Fantasy Basketball ("Contest") is a private contest for Members Only. Sports Buff LLC may work with marketing partners in various local markets across the country. The company and its marketing partners are referred to as "Sponsor."

All contestants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of their registration for the Contest and have Internet access on or before November 15, 2007. Contest void where prohibited. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and their immediate family members (and those living in the same household) of Sponsors, their advertising and promotion agencies or any person or entity connected with the production, administration or judging of the Contest, or any of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents or representatives, are not eligible. Each contestant in the Contest must be the rightful owner or have authorized use of the e-mail account associated with the e-mail address provided by contestant when applying for membership in Sports Buff.

You pay a small membership fee to join the Sports Buff [SB] for the basketball season. Your membership lasts for the duration of the contest.
As a member of SB, you will receive email notification and promotion for other SB contests and offers. By signing up for this contest and becoming an SB member, you grant approval to receive these notifications and promotions.
Limit of 10 entries per person. A maximum of 3 teams per person and 10 teams per family may be entered into the same league. Sponsors reserve the right to change league designations or disqualify entries after the season starts.
A maximum of 2 teams per person and Sports Buff ID may qualify for the Top 8 and the post-season draft. If more than 2 teams per person finish in the Top 8, those teams will officially finish in 9th or lower, based on their total points. These teams will be replaced in the post-season by teams with the next highest season scores.

Season Long Contest
To join and compete in the season long contest, you must join before 5pm CT November 5, 2007. Sports Buff Fantasy Basketball runs from Monday to Sunday each week. The Contest begins with the first game on November 5th, and ends after the last official game on Sunday, April 13, 2008. The Sponsors reserve the right to adjust this schedule and notify all contestants. The Contest consists of weekly periods. The NEW weekly trading deadline is 6PM CT each Monday.
Quarterly Contest
All teams in the season long contest automatically compete in the Quarterly Contest. To join and officially compete in each
Quarterly Contest, your team must be registered before 6pm CT on the Monday that starts each Quarter.
Quarter 1 Begins November 5, 2007 (5 weeks)
Quarter 2 Begins December 10, 2007 (6 weeks)
Quarter 3 Begins January 21, 2008 (6 weeks)
Quarter 4 Begins March 3, 2008 (6 weeks)
Weeks run Monday to Sunday, and Quarterly Ranks will be updated online. The Sponsors reserve the right to adjust this schedule and notify all contestants.
A team may win one and only one Quarterly Contest cash prize only. If a team wins a second, third, or fourth Quarter, the prize will go to the next highest finishing team in that Quarter.
Weekly Contest
Entries for the weekly contest can be added at anytime. They must be added by 6PM CT Monday to be eligible to score points that week. See prize area below for prize details.

Sports Buff Fantasy BasketballSM is a game of skill. After becoming a Sports Buff Member, you may enter SportsBuff.com and draft a basketball team from the lists of available players. All or most eligible players should be listed. If you find any player that you would like to add to the list, email coachb@sportsbuff.com with your request. Your team will consist of twelve (12) players and teams. Your roster must consist of:
4 Guards
4 Forwards
2 Centers
2 Teams
1 LUCKY 13th Player
Your roster must not exceed the $450 salary cap and you must select a full roster to earn points each week. You must choose only from players and teams listed. Players are only eligible at the position listed. Player positions will not change during the length of the contest.
UPDATED. A LUCKY 13th roster spot will be filled each week by any player you would like to use (that does not appear on your current roster). Your LUCKY 13th player will receive SINGLE points for the week. The player will not count against your salary cap and you will not be charged for a trade to fill the 13th spot on your roster. A player may fill your LUCKY 13th roster spot only once during the season (once you use a player, they are no longer eligible to earn points in the LUCKY 13th spot on your roster). If you do not add a new LUCKY 13th player each week, that roster spot will receive zero points.
If a team enters later in the year to compete in the Quarterly Contest, that team must also follow the Lucky 13th player rule, with the obvious advantage that they haven't used some of the players used previously by other teams.
Note for Player Upgrade strategy. If you decide to use a player in the LUCKY 13th roster spot during an upgrade week, you will not receive the salary upgrade if the player is upgraded. The LUCKY 13th player does not officially have a salary for that week and does not count against your salary cap.

Each point scored = 1 point
Each rebound = 1 point
Each assist = 2 points
Each steal = 2 points

Teams
Win = 20 points
Points Scored 100 or More = 5 points
Points Allowed 89 or Less = 5 points
If, for any reason, a game is postponed (due to weather, etc.) you will only receive points for that game if you have the player or team on your roster the day the game is officially completed.

Online Sports Buff dues for fantasy basketball are $9.99 or $19.99 per team.
All Members are eligible if their account is kept current by paying dues and transaction fees on time. If a credit card rejection occurs, customer service will attempt to correct the situation. If dues are not paid within 30 days, the Club has the right to terminate your Membership and/or disqualify you from eligibility for prizes.
Contestants can attempt to form their own league using the "Join League With Friends" function. A maximum of 3 teams per person and 10 teams per family may be entered into the same league. Requests for exceptions may be sent to coachb@sportsbuff.com. A maximum of 10 teams per promo code (if applicable) are allowed in the same league. Sports Buff reserves the right to modify league formation if these rules are not followed. Sports Buff also reserves the right to verify that these league formation rules are being followed and to disqualify contestants, without refund or prizes, for violation.
A maximum of 2 teams per person and Sports Buff ID may qualify for the Top 8 and the post-season draft. If more than 2 teams per person finish in the Top 8, those teams will officially finish in 9th or lower, based on their total points. These teams will be replaced in the post-season by teams with the next highest season scores.

No phone entries are allowed for the 2007-2008 contest.

Any of your 12 players/teams may be traded online for $2 per transaction for 1 to 5 transactions. You may trade 6 to 12 players/teams each week for a maximum price of $12 per week. For example, you may trade 3 players for $6, 5 players for $10, 6 players for $12, or 12 players for $12. There is no need to purchase this option, the Mr. Fantasy Basketball system handles the weekly maximum fee option automatically when you make 6 or more trades per week. A player must be traded for another player at the same position. Players may be traded only if the total salary after the trades does not exceed your current salary cap. Attempts to make trades, which would result in roster salaries above the salary cap, will be rejected. During the season, player values may change based on performance (see Player Upgrades).
Players may be traded any day of the week up to the trading deadline of 10AM CT each Monday. Any eligible player not listed on the site may be added to the contest via your request to coachb@sportsbuff.com. Send an email through the web site with name, team, and position and a ruling will be made on their eligibility and position. If the player is added, their salary value will be determined by management and they will be available within two business days of the request.

Coach B, our mascot, will select a team each week of the Contest. If you beat Coach B's score, you will receive one free trade credit (valued at $2) for the following week or later in the season. For example, all contestants beating Coach B in Week 1 will receive a free trade to be used during Week 2 or later. No Coach B free trades will be awarded for beating Coach B in the final week of the season and no trade credits are eligible to be carried over to other contests or seasons.

During the season, some players will "outperform" the salary assigned at the start of the season. If you have one or more of those players on your roster, we think you should be rewarded for finding that "diamond-in-the rough." Any time a player's or team's salary is upgraded and you have that player on your roster, your salary cap will increase, giving you more spending power. Five times during the Contest - after weeks 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21 - three (3) players' (one per position) and one team salary, will be increased $3, based on a secret Club formula (that we're sure you can figure out). Only players/teams n the top 10 scorers (year to date) at their position will be eligible for an upgrade. 'Top 10' players are all players ranked from 1 to 10 in season-to-date player rankings, including players tied for 10th.
The upgraded players will be announced online on the Tuesday following each week of player upgrades. If you have any player on your roster that receives an increase in salary, your team value will increase by $3 for each player upgraded (e.g., if your team value is $450 and after Week 3 you have 3 players on your roster that each receive a $3 upgrade, then from Week 4 forward, your team value is $459). Your team value, as well as individual player values, will never decrease. All player upgrades go into effect on Tuesday during the appropriate week. In order to receive credit for the player upgrade, you must have that player on your current roster at the time the raises are announced. For example, to take advantage of the player upgrades that occur after Week 3, you must have those players on your Week 4 roster by the trading deadline for that week.
LUCKY 13th Player note for Player Upgrade strategy. If you decide to use a player in the LUCKY 13th roster spot during an upgrade week, you will not receive the salary upgrade if the player is upgraded. The LUCKY 13th player does not officially have a salary for that week and does not count against your salary cap.

Compete and win on many different levels. Each contestant competes on a minimum of three different levels - a League of up to 33 teams, a Region, and Overall.

A total of eight (8) finalists will advance to the Sports Buff Fantasy Basketball VIP Post-Season Challenge. After the final week of competition, the eight (8) teams with the highest season-to-date scores (total score minus 1 lowest weekly score), will advance to the playoff competition. The 8 finalists will draft via phone or online, on or about 4/18/08.
Tie-Breaking Rules
If a tie exists for end-of-season score OR Quarterly Contest, the tie will be broken using the highest weekly score of each Member. If a tie still exists, the second highest weekly score will be used, until the final highest weekly score is used, if needed. If a tie still exists, the tie will be broken through the administration of one or more trivia questions relating to professional basketball, to those who are still involved in the tie.
PLAYOFF DRAFT
You will compete head-to-head to draft a playoff roster of 15 players/teams. Draft order will be:
1. Highest end-of-season total score
2. 2nd highest end-of-season total score
3. 3rd highest end-of season total score
4. 4th highest end-of-season total score
5th to 8th draft spots will be filled by the four Quarterly Winners. Order will be determined by highest single weekly score in the Quarter their team qualified for the post-season.
5. Quarterly Contest Winner with highest single weekly score
6. Quarterly Contest Winner with second highest single weekly score
7. Quarterly Contest Winner with third highest single weekly score
8. Quarterly Contest Winner with fourth highest single weekly score
A maximum of 2 teams per person and Sports Buff ID may qualify for the Top 8 and the post-season draft. If more than 2 teams per person finish in the Top 8, those teams will officially finish in 9th or lower, based on their total points. These teams will be replaced in the post-season by teams with the next highest season scores. [Quarterly Contest Qualifier Note - a single team may NOT win more than one spot in the Post-Season Draft. If, for any reason, the same team wins a Quarter AND qualifies as a Top 4 end-of-season finalist, the team owner will have the option to select their Top 4 spot for the draft… and the other spot will go to the next highest finisher in that Quarter.]
During the post-season draft, once a player is selected, they are exclusively "owned" by that contestant throughout the playoffs. During the first 12 rounds, you will draft, in any order, 4 Guards, 4 Forwards, 2 Centers, and 2 Teams. During the final 3 rounds, you may select players from any position. All players are eligible. If they were not assigned a Sports Buff Fantasy Basketball ID on or before April 18, 2008, you must submit the names for position assignment at least 24 hours before the draft.
You accumulate points for all 15 players and teams, based upon the Fantasy Basketball Scoring System and the players' performances in all playoff games. NEW - each team starts with their average weekly score (after drop week for Top 4) in the post-season. The contestant with the highest cumulative total after the completion of the playoffs wins the Grand Prize and the title of Mr. Fantasy Basketball. The 2nd through the 8th highest cumulative scores win the 2nd to 8th place prizes. In the event of a tie, a winner will be decided using criteria in this order: Playoff total for Guards, Forwards, Centers, and then teams. If a tie still exists, the tie will be broken through the administration of one or more trivia questions relating to professional basketball, to those who are still involved in the tie.

In case of a work stoppage - a strike or lock-out or stoppage of this contest by the NBA - Sports Buff Fantasy Basketball will not resume until the regular players return (when the strike or lock-out ends), or until the NBA reinstates this licensed game. If play does not resume or the game is not reinstated and less than 7 weeks of the regular season were completed, all transaction fees will be refunded and no prizes will be awarded. If play does not resume and 7 or more weeks were completed, prizes will be pro-rated based on weeks played. All prizes will then be awarded based solely on overall season-to-date rank (no Quarterly Ranks).

Chances of winning are dependent on the total number of entries and the skill used in choosing players and managing your team. The Sponsors are not responsible or liable for any damages for injury incurred by a contestant as a result of enrolling, competing, winning, or traveling to the post-season event. A team may win one and only one cash prize and may qualify for one and only one post-season draft position by winning a Quarter. The goal of this rule is to allow four teams and four people to qualify for the post-season draft based on doing well in a Quarter. A person (different team) may win a maximum of two Quarterly cash prizes and qualify for a maximum of two post-season draft positions by winning a Quarter. See Section 13 for discussion of teams that may win a Quarter and qualify as a Top 4 finisher.

In the event of a tie, the Weekly winner for a particular Contest Week will be the contestant involved in the tie who earned the highest weekly point total in the Contest Week previous to the Contest Week that the tie occurred in, if any. For example, if two contestants are tied with the highest weekly point total for Contest Week 4, the contestant involved in the tie who earned more points in Contest Week 3 will be deemed the Weekly winner. If a tie still exists (or if there was no prior week), the tie will be broken through the administration of one or more trivia questions relating to professional basketball, to those who are still involved in the tie.
Highest Weekly Score Prizes
The highest single weekly scores, obtained in any one single week throughout the 24-week season, qualify to earn the following cash prizes. All teams eligible for the regular season contest are eligible to compete and win the weekly prizes.
1st: $300 plus a free entry, free live scoring, and free unlimited transactions in 2008-2009 SB Fantasy Basketball. Valued at more than $550.
2nd: $200 plus a free entry, free live scoring, and free unlimited transactions in 2008-2009 SB Fantasy Basketball. Valued at more than $450.

Contest subject to these Official Rules. Any disputes must be submitted to the Sports Buff Advisory Board (P.O. Box 896, Kenosha, WI 53141-0896) in writing and the decision of the Advisory Board will be final. By participating, contestants agree: (i) to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of the Advisory Board, which shall be final and binding; and (ii) to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest and/or these Official Rules. All federal, state and local laws apply. All federal, state or other tax liabilities arising from this Contest, if any, will be the sole responsibility of the winner. Sponsors reserve the right to use the Contest for publicity purposes, and to use the names, likenesses, prizes won and hometown names of winners for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law, and any such use with respect to minors to be subject to prior approval of parent or legal guardian. By entering, contestants acknowledge that Sponsors and their parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotions agencies and their respective employees, officers, shareholders, directors and agents are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible entries; (ii) telephone system, technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections or transmission errors; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry or other materials; (iv) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by the prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or usage of any prize or from participating in the Contest; (v) network or Internet malfunction or failure, including computer virus on the Internet or computer virus on any computer owned by the Member or related to the Contest; or (vi) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any material associated with the Contest. Sponsors disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with the Contest, and reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug, computer problem or other causes beyond Sponsors' control corrupt the administration, security or proper operation of the Contest. Sponsors may prohibit contestant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in their sole discretion, they determine contestant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other contestants or Sponsors representatives. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF SUCH PARTICIPANT. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY FEES) TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
